The community is probably best known for the Londonderry Mall on the east edge of town off of 66 St. NW. This giant shopping complex is a favourite of not just the locals, but of the many Edmonton residents who travel from all around to shop here. Included in the stores and restaurants at Londonderry are Hudson’s Bay, Shoppers Drug Mart, Toys R’ Us, Tony Roma’s, Panago Pizza and a solid variety of fast-food eateries.

Schools in and Around Kildare
Kildare has a very lively and active school system, with several public and separate schools found in and just north of the community. The first of several schools on the list is Kildare School, a K-6 public elementary that offers classes in the Regular Program with an optional Chinese Mandarin Bilingual program. The second school located directly inside the borders of Kildare is The Learning Store at Londonderry. Found on the second floor of the complex, The Learning Store is a grade 7-12 secondary school designed to offer classes to students who require flexibility to finish their high school diploma. Students will receive one-on-one attention from teachers and will also be provided with a quiet and secure area to focus on their studies. There are several schools located just north in Kilkenny, including the Catholic Father Leo Green Elementary School, the public elementary J.A. Fife School and John Barnett School, the public junior high Londonderry School, and the public secondary M.E. Lazerte School. All of these are located just blocks north of Kildare within walking distance.
The Shops and Services of Kildare
The community also houses the St. Michael’s Extended Care Centre, a housing and health care facility providing services to the ill and elderly who require treatment, all in the name of Christian values. Thanks to the Londonderry Mall and Library, there are several buses that make their way through the community. The 312 and 181 go around Londonderry Mall and cut through Kildare, while the 182 and 10 both circle around the outskirts. Between the four main buses, residents are not required to walk far to find a viable public transportation alternative.
