Belmead was mostly built in the mid to late ’70s. What’s interesting about Belmead is there is a small section on the west side that was developed in the early ’90s and is completely fenced off from the eastern portion of Belmead. There is a mixture of single-family homes and condos but the majority of residences are single-family homes. Some of the more well-known condo complexes in Belmead including Belmead Gardens, Decoteau Gardens, and Chateau Place (one of the first condominiums in the west end with a single attached garage). In the typical style of development of the time, the community is centred on a playground, sports fields, and schools. The core of the community has condominium developments and a small amount of commercial space.
