Garneau Edmonton Homes

University Area

Overview

This is one of the oldest sections of Edmonton, established around 1912. It is named after the former Manitoba Metis rebel, Laurent Garneau, who settled in the area with his family in around 1874. Since then, living here has changed considerably, with the building of the nearby University of Alberta (in 1910) and the University Hospital. Much care and attention is being paid by community organizations and the city to preserve the local, quaint nature of the area around Garneau Edmonton homes.
