Public and Private Schools in Inglewood
Inglewood contains several schools, both public and private, though there are no separate schools in the community. The first of two public schools, Inglewood School is an elementary found in the centre of town that offers courses for grades K-6 with an optional Full-Day Kindergarten. Westmount School is a public junior high located in the south of Inglewood and it offers standard classes for grades 7-9 as well as Opportunity programs for students suffering from mild cognitive disabilities to help educate and prepare them for independent living. Norwood Chinese School is a private academy that celebrates Chinese culture and language. They are not affiliated with any political group or religion and offer classes in the Cantonese language from Kindergarten to grade 9 and in the Mandarin language from Kindergarten to grade 6. NorQuest College is also located in Inglewood. This community college is popular for its health, human services and business career programs.
Inglewood Amenities and Transportation
The main recreational area is in a park directly in the centre of the community where the Inglewood Community Garden, Inglewood Community League Hall and Inglewood Playground are all located. Although there are shops all along the major roads of Inglewood, the main attraction is the Westmount Village Shopping Centre, where stores like Wal-Mart, The Home Depot, and Safeway share space with services like the Woodcroft Branch of the Edmonton Public Library and family dentistry. The best restaurants are all along 118 Ave NW in the north and in neighbouring Westmount on 124 st. There are many bus routes through the community, with the 305 travelling north into Inglewood and then circling back out, and the 5 and 135 travelling west to east on 114 Ave NW and then south down 124 St NW. The 3, 125, 127 and 98 busses all also pass through Inglewood.
