This residential community is located directly in the heart of the Mill Woods area. It is one of 26 neighbourhoods that make up the mass of land named for the Mill Creek and is surrounded by Lee Ridge to the north, Tawa to the east, Mill Woods Park to the south and Tipaskan to the west. Most of the commercial areas in Kameyosek are contained to the south along 28 Ave NW, while the northern half is comprised of residential houses and apartments.

What to do in Kameyosek?

Located in the centre of Mill Woods, Kameyosek Park offers a variety of recreational opportunities to residents. There is a playground, two baseball diamonds, two soccer fields, a kyokushin dojo and the Lakewood Community League. In the southwest corner of the neighbourhood is the main commercial area with a dental centre, tanning studio, hair & body salon, a daycare, KFC and Irie Foods Caribbean Cuisine.

If that isn’t enough, the massive Mill Woods Park borders the community on the south side and the Mill Woods Town Centre borders the community to the east. Being situated in the centre of Mill Woods gives the residents of Kameyosek access to a variety of bus lines that travel all around Edmonton. The Lakewood transport hub alone has stops for the 6, 8, 15, 59, 64, 65, 66, 70, 73, 74 and 97 while the 71 and 81 venture through the community via Lakewood Rd N Northwest.

Kameyosek Community Demographics

Although the neighbourhood does continue to show steady growth, it’s limited, as the majority of the area has already been developed. The homes in Kameyosek are divided between single-detached house, apartment buildings and row houses and less than half of all residents own their own property, with the majority renting.

Kameyosek Schools

Kameyosek School is the community’s main public elementary and it offers standard and Cogito courses for grades K-6. Students in the public system will continue their education blocks to the south at J. Percy Page School, a secondary school with classes for grades 10-12. Catholic students have two choices close by as well, as the French primary École Frere Antoine and the secondary Holy Trinity are both located just blocks away. Frere Antoine has classes for K-6 and Holy Trinity has classes for grades 10-12. Communities like Kameyosek are highly sought after by young families and recent graduates, and for a good reason. The area is young, close to great amenities and has a fantastic school system.
