The Perfect Opportunity to Get to Know Your Neighbours

Too many times we get caught up in our everyday lives. We have our jobs, our children and our own families to run. Since this is the case, we sometimes forget that there are so many things going on in the community; and this is why Edmonton's Community League Day exists - to bring communities together. From street dances and pancake breakfasts to dog parties and beer celebrations, there are events throughout the city for you and your family to participate in. Perhaps you are interested in car shows. You will find them throughout Edmonton during Community League Day! Do you think you might want to get more active? Drop in on a flag football game and start playing. At Community League Day events, everyone is welcome to join in on the fun.

Finding the Perfect Community League Day Event

Since there are so many Community League Day events throughout Edmonton, it can be difficult to choose the events you want to drop in on. Fortunately, the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues has tons of information on their website about which leagues are putting on which events. You will find direct links to many leagues and from there, can see what is going on in your own neighbourhood. You can also find out how you can join your community league and what you can do to volunteer your time in your neighbourhood. This is a perfect chance for new members of the community to come out, meet those who have been here for years and find out what makes the community stand out. You will see that Community League Day is much more than an annual event; it is a celebration commemorating the creation of a neighbourhood, which is something everyone can be proud of.

What To Expect From Community League Day

The exact itinerary for Community League Day will vary depending on where you live. Many leagues have league halls where events are often held. These events can range from ice cream socials and BBQs to community wide garage sales and family friendly carnivals. For those leagues that don't have a hall, events are certainly still available. Typically they will take place in an open community space, such as a park. Potlucks, bounce houses, art shows and parades are all commonplace.

Edmonton is a wonderful city to live in if you like to get involved in the community. Young or old, if you are living in the Edmonton area, don't forget to mark your calendar for Community League Day on Saturday, September 20th, 2014. Come out and meet the people who make Edmonton great, and join in on some family-friendly fun.
